Home Remodeling From a Crew That Started in Restoration
We spent 21 years opening up floors and walls after water got into them. That is a useful background for anyone about to rebuild one.

Remodeling on Top of Restoration Experience
Most remodeling companies meet a house at its best moment, when everything is closed up and the problems are hidden behind finished surfaces. We have spent 21 years meeting houses at the opposite moment, with the tile up and the baseboard off and the drywall cut back two feet because water got in. That changes how you build. We know which shower pans fail and why, what happens to a wood subfloor in this humidity when the flooring above it does not breathe, and how a slab that moves seasonally in Houston clay will treat a large-format tile installation in three years. Remodeling is a natural extension of that work rather than a departure from it. Call (281) 384-1002 to talk through what you are planning.
The work we take on is the interior finish scope: bathrooms, kitchens, flooring, tile and stone installation, drywall, trim, and paint, along with the full rebuild that follows a water loss once the structure is dry. On a remodel, price follows scope, material choice, and what we find once the existing surfaces come off, which is the part no one can quote accurately from a photograph. We walk the space, we tell you where the unknowns are before you commit, and we put the likely ones in writing rather than discovering them halfway through. Every job is different, contact Canals Cleaning and Restoration Services for an accurate estimate.
What We Remodel
Interior finish work, with the depth on wet rooms that 21 years of restoration work builds.
Bathroom Remodeling
Tub to shower conversions, tile surrounds, pans, niches, vanities, and the waterproofing behind all of it. Bathrooms are where we have pulled apart the most failed work, so this is the room where our restoration background pays the most obvious dividend. What goes behind the tile matters more than the tile.
Kitchen Remodeling
Cabinet replacement and refacing, countertops, backsplashes, flooring, and the finish work that ties it together. We coordinate the trades a kitchen needs so you are not project managing four companies who each blame the others for the schedule.
Flooring and Tile Installation
Tile, natural stone, luxury vinyl plank, and carpet, over properly prepared substrate. Half the flooring failures we are called to look at are preparation failures rather than product failures. We flatten and prep the slab before anything is set on it, because that is where a floor is won or lost.
Drywall, Texture, Trim, and Paint
Drywall repair and replacement, texture matched to what is already on the wall, trim, and interior paint. This is the visible end of most water losses and the part homeowners live with afterward, so it gets finished properly rather than patched to a texture that reads as a repair from across the room.
Post-Restoration Rebuilds
When a loss has been dried and the damaged material removed, something has to go back in. We do that rebuild, which means the same company that handled the drying is accountable for the finished room. Nothing gets closed up over a substrate that is still holding moisture.
Our Process
How a Remodel Runs With Us
- 01
Walkthrough and Scope
We walk the space with you, look at what is behind the finishes where we can, and talk about what you actually want the room to do. This is also where we flag the unknowns: the things that will only be visible once demolition starts, and roughly what each would mean for budget and schedule if we find them.
- 02
Written Scope and Estimate
A written scope that says what is included, what is not, what the material allowances are, and the sequence of work. Change orders happen on remodels, and they happen honestly when the starting document was specific. A vague quote is not a lower price, it is an argument scheduled for later.
- 03
Demolition and Discovery
Demolition with containment, so dust stays in the work area rather than migrating through the HVAC into the rest of the house. Whatever is uncovered gets photographed and shown to you before it is covered back up. If something needs a licensed specialty trade, we say so rather than working around it.
- 04
Build, Finish, and Walk
Substrate prep, waterproofing in wet areas, then finishes in the right order with the right cure times between them. We clean up as we go and we do a final walk with you against the original scope, item by item, rather than asking whether you are happy with it.

Humidity and Clay Change How You Build
Remodeling Shortcuts We Get Called to Fix
Each of these looks finished on handover day. None of them stays that way.
- 01
A Quote Without a Site Visit
A price given over the phone for a bathroom nobody has stood in is a number designed to win the job, not to finish it. The real figure arrives later as change orders. We would rather walk the space, tell you what we do not yet know, and put a number on it that survives demolition.
- 02
Tile Treated as Waterproofing
Tile is a wear surface, not a waterproofing system. A shower built without proper waterproofing behind it will look correct for a few years and then show up as a soft spot in the room on the other side of the wall. We have rebuilt a lot of those, which is exactly why we do not build them.
- 03
Finishes Over Wet Substrate
Closing a wall or setting flooring over a substrate that is still holding moisture guarantees a callback, usually a big one. Material goes back in after moisture readings say the assembly is dry, not after the calendar says the schedule is tight.

How Remodeling Connects to the Rest of Our Work
Restoration Into Rebuild
The natural sequence after a loss is dry it, then rebuild it. Handling both means one company is accountable from the first moisture reading to the last coat of paint, and nothing gets closed up early to make a schedule. See water damage restoration.
Tile: Replace or Restore
New tile deserves a floor that was prepared for it, and an existing floor is often worth restoring rather than replacing. We will tell you which side of that line yours falls on. See tile and grout cleaning and repair.
The Clean After the Build
Construction dust migrates into carpet, upholstery, and ductwork no matter how well the work area is contained. A deep carpet cleaning and duct cleaning after the trades leave is what makes the house feel finished rather than just completed.
